Rocky’s Unexpected Arrival 😔

Imagine a big, fluffy teddy bear… now picture him a little sad and confused.

That was Rocky when he first arrived at The Dog House.

This sweet, 7-year-old boy was dropped off because his previous owners were juggling building a new home and sadly couldn’t manage his care anymore.

It’s always tough to see a dog in that situation, isn’t it? …

You can just feel their uncertainty.

Rocky had always lived with another dog, and suddenly he was all alone.

He was understandably a bit down, not eating much, and had even lost some weight.

Our hearts went out to him immediately! ❤️

Meet the Magnificent Newfoundland! 🐾

Now, if you’re not familiar with Newfoundlands, let us tell you, they are truly special dogs!

Often called “gentle giants,” they are known for their placid and relaxed nature.

They’re also incredibly sweet and laid-back.

These amazing dogs have a natural affinity for water – in fact, they were bred to be water rescue dogs!

How incredible is that? 🌊

Rocky, being a Newfoundland cross with a German Shepherd, likely inherited that love for splashing around.

It’s no wonder his new dad, Dan, who’s training his own dog Alfie to be a lifeguard, was so drawn to him!

A Big Teddy Bear with a Heart of Gold 🥰

Despite his initial sadness, Rocky’s wonderful personality started to shine through. He absolutely loves cuddles and snuggles on the sofa.

And get this – he thinks he’s a lap dog!

Can you imagine this big, fluffy guy trying to fit onto your lap? 😂

We were told he’d happily sit there all day if you let him!

This just shows what a loving and affectionate dog he is.

It was clear that what Rocky needed most was a loving family to shower him with attention… and maybe a bigger car for all those cuddles on the go! 😉

The Moment of Truth: Meeting His New Family 🤗

The day Rocky met the Cox family was truly special.

Dan and his family were looking for a calm dog who would enjoy being around water, and Rocky seemed to tick all the boxes.

As they waited to meet him, you could feel the excitement in the air… and maybe a few butterflies! 🦋

When Rocky came in, he was a little subdued at first, which is completely understandable given everything he’d been through.

But even then, his gentle nature was evident.

A Little Tentative, But Lots of Love ❤️

Dan was a little nervous at first, but Rocky, in his own gentle way, came right over to him.

It was like he knew!

The whole family took turns giving him fuss and ear scratches.

You could see a little spark returning to Rocky’s eyes.

Even though he wasn’t eating much at the time, we had some hot dogs ready, just in case.

And guess what?

He started to show a little interest!

This was a huge step forward. It’s amazing how the presence of a loving family can make such a difference, isn’t it?

Fast forward, and we’re thrilled to report that Rocky is thriving in his new forever home! 🏡

He’s eating like a king 👑, enjoying walks on the beach 🏖️, and getting all the love and attention he deserves.

His new family absolutely adores him, and they say having him in their home is like having their own big bear!

They even joke about all four of them being able to fuss him at the same time because he’s so big!

It’s truly a happily ever after for this deserving dog.

What a wonderful reminder that every dog deserves a loving home, don’t you think? 🥰
